Queimarla

Our expedition
yacht by choice

Queimarla is an Aboriginal word for “Big Girl”

She is strong, fast and beautiful. Truly exhilarating to sail and has many
features that make her an ideal expedition yacht.

She was designed by Kurt Hughes of Seattle (multihulldesigns.com) and built in Western Australia by Paul and Barbara Jahnz to a meticulous standard.

Paul and Barb then took her on a 14-year circumnavigation of the world. In all these miles she behaved perfectly easily covering in excess of 200 miles per day. They explored African rivers, European cities, Panama Canal and the south pacific, she was their home for nearly 20 years.

My family and I purchased Q in 2013 and she became our full-time home. We purchased her in Port Stephens NSW and sailed her back to our beloved Western Australian coast. Since then we have sailed her between Cape Leeuwin and the Kimberly. Living and schooling on board.

Q is a magic carpet to Adventure.

Queimarla is powerful and fast. Super spacious at 45 feet long (13.85m). She carries deep daggerboards for startling windward performance. Her bridge deck clearance is high, so she experiences no underwing slapping. Her rudders lift clear of the water reducing her draft to 500 mm. She can go where other craft cannot, opening up a myriad of cruising possibilities. She had outboard engines, so no diesel smells on board. She truly is a performance cruiser.

Yet along with all this speed is safety as well. She has sailed around the world, she has passed Australian Maritime Safety Authorities strict standards for a commercial training vessel and her designer assures me she is unsinkable.

You can rest assured you are sailing a true pedigree. Come and try
her out. You won’t be disappointed.
